Meet The Owner

John Cosper, Owner

For more than 40 years, I’ve helped businesses solve technology problems, improve security, and use technology more effectively. Since founding New Creature Computers in 2012, my goal has been simple: build long-term relationships by providing honest advice, dependable support, and practical technology solutions.

Why I Started New Creature Computers

I’ve always loved helping people. I worked in the corporate world for a long time and, while that was a great ‘career’ and I was solving problems and helping others do their jobs easier, it was to further the profitability of the corporation, not truly helping people. I was determined to try and find a way to use the talents I felt I had been blessed with and help others. Help them use technology to improve their businesses, stay protected in an ever-changing world of cyber threats, and succeed in ways they may never have imagined.

I started New Creature Computers because I wanted to build the kind of IT company I’d want to hire myself—one where clients know who they’re calling, receive honest advice, and have a trusted technology partner they can rely on for years to come.

Why “New Creature Computers”

The name New Creature Computers comes from 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creature: the old has passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

When I started this business, I wanted the name and logo to represent something more meaningful than technology.

The butterfly has long been a symbol of transformation and new beginnings. For me, it reflects the message of 2 Corinthians 5:17—that through Christ, we are made new.

The color purple also carries special meaning. Throughout Scripture and history, purple was associated with royalty because it was rare and valuable. As a Christian, I believe that through God’s grace we are adopted into His family and become children of the King. The butterfly and the purple together remind me every day of that identity and of the responsibility to live and work with integrity.

Those beliefs shape the way I strive to serve my clients—with honesty, humility, respect, and a commitment to building relationships based on trust.

Whether my clients share my faith or not, my goal is the same: to provide dependable service, straightforward advice, and technology solutions that genuinely help their businesses succeed.

What That Means for My Clients

You might not ever ask me about the meaning behind the company name—and that’s perfectly fine.

What you will experience is the way those values shape how I work:

  • I recommend what I believe is best for your business, not what produces the highest sale.
  • I believe in building long-term relationships rather than chasing quick profits.
  • I’ll tell you when your existing equipment is still the right choice.
  • I’ll explain technology in plain English.
  • If I make a mistake, I’ll own it and work to make it right.
  • My goal is for every client to feel respected, informed, and well cared for.

Outside the Office

I am a lifelong Memphian and love my city and the Mid-South. I’ve had the opportunity to travel and see some very different and very beautiful parts of the world but my heart always drags me back home. I’m a diehard University of Memphis fan (“Go Tigers”) and you’ll find me cheering them on every basketball season.

When I’m not helping clients, I love to spend time with my wife Cynthia, our extended family of kids and grandkids, gathering with our church family, hiking or seeing a great concert.
